President's Message

Sigma Alpha is the only professional agricultural-based sorority on campus. Because of this, we pride ourselves on being able to offer a unique experience to our members here at UCD.

The pillars of Sigma Alpha are scholarship, leadership and service. Following these pillars we hold events each quarter, where our sisters have the opportunity to grow and learn. Our organization recognizes the importance of academics first, and encourage our members to do well in classes by forming study groups and completing study hours with sisters.

Our members are emerging women leaders in the agricultural industry. Each quarter we hold workshops to promote self growth of our members in order to learn valuable skills needed in the work force. We also enjoy touring local ag organizations to learn about the many different facets of this industry.

Philanthropic events allow us the opportunity to give back to different organizations in the Davis community. Some of our past philanthropy events have been collecting pet items to donate to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and we have also donated our time into putting together an agricultural education booth for Girl Scout Farm Day held in Sacramento.

Finally, joining Sigma Alpha is a great opportunity to get to know other women with similar passions and goals. We are always striving to strengthen the bonds of friendship and sisterhood among our members. We hold social events as well as sisterhood workshops, and are always learning new things about our sisters.

We offer two rush periods each year in Fall and Winter quarters. We hope to see you come out to some of our events to learn more about our sorority and our sisters. Don't hesitate to contact any of our members for more information!

In sisterhood,

Alison Emery
